Minolta Auto Meter II Incident Light-Meter Review Video

Another car-boot bargain, this time an old Minolta light-meter, the Auto Meter II.

The Minolta Auto-Meter II is an incident light-meter. This means that you use it to measure the light falling on your subject, rather than the light reflected from it. So if you were taking a photo of a flower, you'd put the light-meter up near the flower, pointing towards the camera, then take your reading.

The idea is that you can get a very accurate exposure reading with this method, and comes in really handy, especially with people photography. So if you see one of these beauties going for a song second-hand, make sure you snap it up and give it a home!

Light meters are good to have handy. Most photographers these days don't use them but I think they should. It would give them a better understanding of light and how it works in photography. Good review.

You can't beat a minolta for build and accuracy. I've had a succession on them starting with the Autometer II and now I use a IV. The very useful alteration screw really allows you to match the meters readings to your own style and requirements. Anyone finding one [especially in a car boot sale] should snap it up immediately.
