Minolta Auto Meter II - Painting With Light!

Minolta Auto Meter II., originally uploaded by scalespeeder.

Inspired by Victor Ws work I thought I'd have a go at painting with light.

I set my camera up on my tripod, went to manual mode and chose a tight aperture and a 10 second exposure, focused on the light-meter, turned the lights off, tripped the shutter and shined a small torch on my subject.

I was really surprised at the outcome, quite pleasing, and I'm going to work on the technique....

Cheers, Rob.

Nice one Rob, really like your first results.

I've got to say I'm a bit addicted to this technique now and have been searching out my pocket torches of various sizes. There's a very satisfactory feeling when you produce an image simply by 'painting' the light where you want an exposure and you're in complete control too, not the camera. Very therapeutic :-)

Pleased to see that you're going to try this technique further, couldn't have come at a better time with our nights drawing in. Look forward to more of your work Rob.

All the best,

Victor
