Photowalk 36 - On The Cycle-Path
Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 10:53PM
After spending a day catching up with the hundreds of emails I'd let build up on one of my other sites, sciuridae.co.uk, I needed today to get out in the fresh air and get some exercise, camera in hand.I decided to walk down Gosports main cycle path, which used to be the main railway line, ipod on, listening to twip, stopping to take the occasional photograph, with nothing in mind apart from putting one foot in front of the other and getting some miles under my belt.
E's Good Taken With Fujifilm S5700, Aperture Priority, F3.5, 1/220th, ISO 200, Focal Length 21mm, Hand-held

I have to admit it can be a bit hard finding photographic inspiration on these walks - especially today as the sky was a grey blandness, so I decided to just shoot whatever took my fancy.

Heading towards the centre of town there was quite a lot of Graffiti, and its amazing how the council let the rubbish pile up - where's my council tax money going?!
Trunk Detail Taken With Fujifilm S5700, Aperture Priority, F3.5, 1/170th, ISO 400, Focal Length 20mm, Hand-held

There's a little park near the end of Stoke Road, I can't remember its name, there were some nice flowerbeds, but the plants were well past their prime, so I pushed on towards Asda to pick up some supplies.

The following pic is of a sign by an underpass - jeez, just think, someone thought it was necessary to go around and put these things up.... madness!
Surely Shome Mishtake... Taken With Fujifilm S5700, Aperture Priority, F3.5, 1/160th, ISO 64, Focal Length 6mm, Hand-held

I did grab some shots that may be "istock worthy", so I've uploaded them, but I do know that I got home nicely tired after about a four mile walk - photography and keeping fit, a great combination!
Thanks, Rob.
ps, A note on camera exif data. Being a bridge camera, my S5700 has a crop factor because the sensor is a lot smaller than on a dSLR, so when you're looking at the focal lengths bear in mind that the S5700 has a focal length range of 6-63mm, which is the equivalent of 38-380mm in a 35mm dSLR. Also the aperture and shutter speeds given are approximate, as for some reason sometimes they're different in the PC exif data than what I actually took, but its usually just the next step up or down.
