Photowalk 28 - Near The Explosion Museum

All Tapped OutI had to return some overdue books to my local library, so on the way back I detoured to one of my favourite Photowalks, which snakes along near the Explosion Museum in Gosport, and got a few shots in.

Simple shot, just playing around with depth of field and composition.

Tribute to the 08/08/08. Oh. Wait a minute... where's my clone stamp?

I did quite a bit of masking in this one. I wasn't happy with the contrast in the sky or foreground - so I applied levels to each separately, and brightened up the lamp-post on the left, and added a sepia tone.

I saw these brilliantly coloured flowers at the side of the path and had to take a few photos. Played with levels, hue, and cropped to square.

I really liked the relationship between these two flowers. I've started to play around with blend modes in Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. I create my normal levels and hue adjustment layers, but change the blend mode to overlay or soft-light - then adjust the opacity of the layer to tone-down the effect.

On A Barbed Wire

This is a great example of where I saw the flower on the barbed wire, but didn't see the obvious leaf in front of it!

Quite simply, we see the subject, but the camera sees the distractions! I should have double checked and re-shot.

I really enjoyed this Photowalk - it wasn't planned, but I came across some interesting subjects. It wasn't that they weren't there before (apart from the flowers), but I think I'm getting better at seeing subjects, and applying composition. Light still to come...

Thanks, rob.
