Photowalk 22 - Gosport Gander

On BlackThis one isn't really a Photowalk, as I visited a number of locations in the car, but it was a beautiful morning, so I grabbed my camera gear and set off.

I wanted to try out my home-made reflectors with a Macro shot background, and because the clouds looked nice I wanted another shot of the Destroyers at Priddys Hard, and the pretty little place that is Stanley Park, Alvestoke.

Hidden Garden

Starting off with a HDR, this was taken from inside the Walled Garden in Stanley Park, Gosport. Not sure whether I should have cropped the sky out. I wanted to create the feeling of the entrance to a secret place. Flaming Pears made a welcome return to provide the Melancholytrons' Vignette.

Tripod taken HDR Panorama. Its one of the photo's when it looked a lot better at the time than it does on the screen - the trees that all had separate identities have merged into one, and it's become a bit ho-hum.

Again, in the Walled Garden at Stanley Park, there is a raised flower bed in the middle, making it perfect for macro shots with shallow depth of field treatments. The main flower is in shadow, but it was a very bright day.

A Ha! A chance to use the black back of one of my reflectors. I had to choose a flower that was in shadow, and held the reflector back about a meter, putting the camera on shutter delay then dashing across to the flower to put the background in place. Definitely something I'll be doing more of.

I'm always drawn back to the old Type 42 Destroyers that are parked at Priddys Hard, Gosport, awaiting scrapping. I still haven't got a capture I'm happy with, I guess I'll have to hire a boat one day and get a lot closer...

The Eyes Have It

The neighbours cat. I'm sorry. Anyway, this was taken at full zoom, so its a bit soft, and I added a melancholytron vignette to darken down the edges.

In conclusion, a bit of a mixed up Photowalk, but it was a beautiful day, and any day with a camera in hand is a good one, even if the shots don't come out great. I'm running out of locations in Gosport now, so it's time to go further afield....

Thanks, Rob.
