Photowalk 26 - Stokes Bay Morning Stroll

Morning Con TrailsYou may have noticed I've started work on a new section of the website where I'm bringing together new and existing photography turorials, "The Course". Needed a short video about Photowalks, so I headed down to Stokes Bay fairly early in the morning and got a couple of ok, and one a bit naff shots.

I'm really starting to like these sky shots taken in portrait with my S5700 at its widest focal length. You don't realise how much that great lens can capture until you start to get away from traditional framing...

Used tripod for this one, small aperture for maximum depth of field, polarizer (cokin) to help sky, and obviously changed to b&w abd added tone in Photoshop.

Yellow and Purple

I know what I wanted this pic to turn out like... but it didn't. I saw these different coloured plants on the side of Gilkicker Fort, and I wanted that sort of abstract look, with the photo all about the colours... but its a bit of a mush. Next time.

Not For Stepping Taken With Fujifilm S5700, Aperture Priority, F3.5, 1/350th, ISO 64, Focal Length 21.7mm, Tripod
Not For Stepping...

Abstract to finish with. Saw these two stones at the corner of a lake and couldn't resist. Looking at it now though, I wonder if it would have been better if i'd tossed a couple of pebbles in first...

I tell you what, the light was good at 8 o'clock in the morning, I've got to get out closer to dawn for some real magic...

Thanks, Rob.
