Using Photomatix Pro 3.0 To Generate Landscape HDR's

HDR image from Chilling Coastal AreaHDR is attracting a lot of attention at the moment - the latest "buzz" in photography, so I've knocked together this quick video to show you how easy it is to use Photomatix Pro 3.0 to make really dynamic images.

First up, SORRY FOR THE IMAGE QUALITY! I tried to use my regular screencast software, in loads of different settings, but I guess the processing requirements overwhelmed my old PC, making the audio terrible, and the video just as bad. So this is a video of me filming my computer screen with my digital camera.... but it should give you an idea of how easy to use Photomatix Pro 3.0!

Backing up a bit, to take shots that might turn out as interesting HDR's, make sure you go out on a day when there's some nice clouds in the sky, or a least some tonal variation. For really dramatic skies use a polarizing filter to bring out the detail in the clouds, and you'll be amazed with what you can produce. Use a tripod, use auto-bracketing or adjust the exposure by changing the shutter speed, and take loads of pictures.

Pick up the free trial from HDRSoft.com, install it, then go out and take some shots, and I'll see you on Flickr!

Cheers, Rob.

I appreciated this--just purchased Photomatix and I am learning how to use it so absolutely every tutorial helps, regardless of the video quality! Thanks!
